Okay, I really hope I don’t offend anyone here and if I do it’s honestly completely unintentional, but I want to speak my mind I guess.
I don’t know if it’s just me, it might be, but I’m jealous of people with faith. I mean that in the religious sense. It gives them comfort and something to believe in during the tough times in their lives, while also guiding them through every single day.
I’m gonna be completely honest and say that I’ve had a pretty easy life, I’ve not had to deal with anything incredibly difficult or any of the hardships I hear about every day from my friends of people that I know. But all the same, sometimes I feel like it’s nice to believe someone or some thing is watching over you, like most religious people believe God does.
It’s not that I feel that I’m excluded entirely from a religion, I understand that anybody can take to a faith and become a religious believer, and that you don’t have to have been born into the tradition of a family faith for example to be accepted in a religious community. I can’t help feeling however that following a faith and believing wholeheartedly that an eternal being created the world, all living things and so on, would be almost impossible for me after years of being interested in logical explanations for things, science and stuff.
I don’t know, I just think that if I wanted to turn to religion I’d have to forget about most of the things I’ve learnt about life and go by what someone wrote in a book hundreds or thousands of years ago. My problem with that is that I’d just see holes in everything. Maybe not that bad, but at the very least it would take a long time for me to come to terms with it all. I just think that sometimes a bit of faith would be nice, but perhaps I’m past it now. I feel like I’d have had to have been born into it to understand it all and feel protected by my faith.
Maybe if I hadn’t taken more of an interest in things like science and and things that have a physical presence in the world, I’d have a faith to be proud of. Maybe I shouldn’t have looked to logic for answers and just gone with whatever I felt inside?
I don’t know, ignorance is bliss I guess.
